Pembahasan Bentuk Akar tak hingga

Mendapat pertanyaan dari siswa tentang cara menentukan nilai akar tak hingga suatu bilangan, yang mana permasalahan tersebut kecil kemungkinannya dibahas dalam proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu pada kesempatan ini Admin mencoba untuk membahasnya.

Salah satu bentuk soalnya sebagai berikut.
Nilai dari   $\frac{1}{2}\sqrt{2+\sqrt{2+\sqrt{2+\sqrt{2+...}}}}$ adalah ....

Penyelesaian
$misalkan\, x=\sqrt{2+\sqrt{2+\sqrt{2+...}}}$ ⇒ disebut bentuk akar tak hingga
maka   $x=\sqrt{2+x}$
$x^{2}=(\sqrt{2+x})^{2}$ ⇒ kedua ruas dikuadratkan
$x^{2}=2+x$
   $x^{2}-x-2=0$ ⇒ penfaktoran bentuk ax² + bx + c = 0 , dimana a = 1
   $(x-2)(x+1)=0$
   $x-2=0$ atau    $x+1=0$
   $x=2$ $x=-1$ (diambil nilai x yang positif)
x = 2, maka nilai   $\sqrt{2+\sqrt{2+\sqrt{2+...}}}=2$
Jadi nilai dari $\frac{1}{2}\sqrt{2+\sqrt{2+\sqrt{2+...}}}=\frac{1}{2}\times 2$
$=1$
